Vernal Equinox
An equinox occurs twice a year (around 20 March and 22 September), when the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth’s equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name “equinox” is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day have approximately equal length.
What this means to us is Spring has sprung…
Spring is a time of rebirth and another chance to begin somewhat anew. In my family it is also my nephew Seth’s Birthday. Today he would have been 28. I’ve lit a candle for him this morning. I can’t help but think that he was connected to the universe because he was connected to so many people. Seth was a wonderful young man. I wish he was here growing old with us, but he belongs to the universe now. I’m sure he’s a star in heaven, just as he was a star during his time here with us on earth.
